HOME FOOTBALL MATCHES
The first week of December saw two home matches at Mumbery Field against Shinfield Junior School. First up on Monday were the Year 5/6 girls, who fabulously won their game 4-1. Goals were scored by Maggie, Freya, Emma and Ivy. The Year 5/6 boys were next to play on Tuesday. Winning 2-0 with goals scored by Sonny and Jacob A. Both teams played excellent games and the parental turn out to support was lovely to see and much appreciated.
NOVEMBER SPORTING FIXTURES
November saw a host of sporting fixtures for the Junior School.
On 7th November, pupils from Years 3/4 participated in a Cross-Country event at Lightwater Country Park. They did really well and showed great courage throughout. The support of the parents at this event was greatly appreciated.
On 15th November, pupils from Year 5/6 attended a football tournament at Cantley Park. After some fantastic play, winning 7 out of their 8 group games, they got to the semi-finals and narrowly lost out on penalties.
On 20th November, pupils from Year 3/4 went along to Maiden Erlegh School for a Sports Hall Athletics event. They took part in a variety of track and field events including javelin, long jump, vertical jump, sprinting, obstacle races and more. The children did really well, winning a couple of races along the way, though we are yet to receive the final results of this event. Mrs Kelly attended the event with Mr Hawtin and her help on the day was invaluable.
Throughout November, Year 6 leaders have been working hard during a leadership course at The Holt School. This has involved them using leadership skills and working together to create an activity session that they then lead to groups of year 3 children from other schools. The children have shown maturity throughout and have been great examples for the younger children.
KS1 TAG RUGBY MULTI SKILLS FESTIVAL
On Thursday 3rd October, on a sunny autumn afternoon, some KS1 children visited South Lake Primary School to participate in a Wokingham School Games Multi Skills Festival. We enjoyed a carousel of activities with 8 other local schools, based on tag rugby. The children worked on their agility skills, balance and co-ordination. The children showed our school values in abundance and represented our school impeccably.
KS2 RUGBY EVENT
On Monday 23rd September 2024, a group of Year 5 and 6 children were invited to take part in a Megafest of various rugby activities in the Air Dome at the Forest School. They played alongside a number of different schools and developed their movement, teamwork and rugby skills. Well done for demonstrating great sportsmanship, as well as our values of grace, courage and friendship!
CROSS COUNTRY EVENT
Girls and boys from the Junior School joined 200 children from across the Borough to attend a Cross Country meeting at Great Hollands Primary School on Thursday 3rd October. The weather held out and the children were all fabulous ambassadors of the school and cheerleaders for each other. Everyone put in maximum effort and did their best with our Year 5-6 girls grabbing first and second place in their race.
